Devi Navaratri Puja is dedicated to worshipping Goddess Durga and her nine forms, each representing a different aspect of life such as strength, wisdom, courage, and prosperity. These nine days are believed to be highly auspicious for spiritual growth and inner transformation. Following the traditional Navaratri Pooja Vidhinam, devotees perform rituals with devotion, discipline, and purity. As per devi Navaratri rules of puja, maintaining cleanliness, observing fasts, and offering prayers daily helps purify the mind and surroundings. Another unique aspect is the tradition of following Navaratri colors, where each day is often associated with a specific color that represents the energy of the Goddess being worshipped.

Devi Navaratri Pooja Vidhi
The Navaratri Pooja Vidhanam is a sacred step-by-step process followed during the nine days of Navaratri to worship Goddess Durga.
- Kalash Sthapana - Day 1 The Navaratri Puja begins with Kalash Sthapana, which marks the start of devi Navaratri Pooja. A sacred kalash filled with water is placed on soil, barley seeds are sown, and a coconut with mango leaves is placed on top. This decorated kalash symbolizes prosperity and the presence of divine energy.
- Sankalp After setting up the kalash, devotees take a sankalp, a heartfelt vow to perform the Navaratri Puja with sincerity. This step is important as it sets the intention for the entire ritual and invites blessings for health, happiness, and success.
- Daily Puja Ritual Each day, the Goddess is worshipped with full devotion. The ritual includes lighting a diya and incense, offering flowers, kumkum, and prasad, and chanting mantras or sacred texts like Durga Saptashati. Aarti is performed to conclude the daily worship.
- Fasting Fasting is a common practice during Navaratri, though it is not mandatory. Devotees who observe fasts consume satvik food, avoiding onion, garlic, and non-vegetarian items. This helps in maintaining purity of body and mind.
- Kanya Pujan On either the eighth or ninth day, Kanya Puja is performed where young girls are worshipped as forms of Goddess Durga. They are offered food such as puri, chana, and halwa, along with small gifts or dakshina as a mark of respect.
- Visarjan On the final day, the Navaratri Puja concludes with visarjan. Devotees offer gratitude to the Goddess, perform the last aarti, and respectfully conclude the Kalash ritual.
