How to do Sanatana Gopala Homam at Home
Step 1: Choose an Auspicious Muhurat
A suitable tithi, nakshatra, and muhurat should be chosen by an experienced pandit or astrologer for offering the homam.Step 2: Clean & Prepare the Space
Clean the room or puja area; it is preferred that it faces East or North. Arrange neatly a homa kund, Bala Gopala idol/ photo, oil lamps and puja items.Step 3: Setup the Kalash
Decorate and set up a Kalash with water, mango leaves, and coconut, wrapped in a red/yellow cloth. Put rice and flowers below the Kalash.Step 4: Start with Achamanam & Sankalp
Then, light the lamp and incense. Achamanam, purification using water, is performed by everyone present. The couple then takes the Sankalpa, confirming the intention, namely childbirth, safe pregnancy, children's well-being, and family harmony.Step 5: Ganapati Puja
